Greek Mythology > People, Places, & Things > Kybos
K to Keres Kerigo to Kleomenes I Kleomenes II to Kronikos Kronos to Kyzikos 2
Six sided dice used in games of chance.
The transliteration of Greek words into English is somewhat dicey in itself; in this case, the word Kybos was loosely rendered as Cubos and thus we get Cube, i.e. a six sided figure; the Kappa was turned into a C and since the lowercase Upsilon looks like a modern u (but is pronounced as a long E) the pronunciation and appearance of the word have changed dramatically.
